About Us

Agency for Turkana Development Initiatives (ATUDIS) is a registered indigenous people led non-Governmental organization based in Turkana, Northern Kenya with focus in Samburu, Turkana, Marsabit and West Pokot. ATUDIS was formed and registered as Community Based Organization in 2014 following the threats to violation of Turkana People Land Rights from expansion attitude of neighboring ethnic communities, Land grabbers, Multinational Project, and Investors. As result of successful implementation of community land protection projects, ATUDIS widen its scope to incorporate the land related demands from wider ASALs (Arid and Semi-Arid Lands) Areas. This led to its registration with NGO Coordination Board as NGO in September 2022”.

The type of activities undertaken by ATUDIS range from capacity building to service delivery, with main focus remaining on the deprived and marginalized segments of Turkana, Samburu, West Pokot and Marsabit communities. Whereas in terms of operations what characterizes ATUDIS’s functioning are its efforts to: -(a) Enlist involvement of the community when initiating activities at the grassroot level; and(b) Mobilizing communities to secure their Land rights, manage their Natural resources, protect environment and champion for development in the society.
